Welcome to Costa Del Sol

Costa del Sol is the classic Spanish holiday destination: bustling seaside resorts, long sandy beaches and great year-round weather. However, quintessential Spain is never far away: white-washed mountain villages, orchards laden with fragrant oranges and time to really enjoy a sleepy siesta.

Information & Facts

Over 50 different golf courses are testament to the nickname “Costa del Golf”. Water sport enthusiasts can enjoy surfing, snorkelling, diving, waterskiing, waterboarding and much more. More gentle pursuits include camping, bird-watching and fishing. For the really adventurous Costa del Sol offers paragliding, ballooning, caving and many other extreme sports. It is even possible in winter and spring to go skiing in nearby Sierra Nevada in the morning and be back on the beach in the afternoon.

Costa del Sol enjoys a typical Mediterranean climate. With almost 320 days of sunshine you can see why it´s an all year-round destination. Hottest months are July and August where the average is 26°C. Temperatures can be deceptively tempered by coastal breezes. In the spring and autumn you can expect highs of between 18°C and 22°C degrees. Generally mild winters are really popular with those escaping northern European winters.

Eating Out

Like the rest of Spain the genuine local culinary experience is tapas. With tapas you can sample a selection of the best local produce in small dishes with a chilled glass of beer or wine. Definitely recommended are “albondigas” (meatballs) and “tortilla española” (potato omelette). As you would expect this coastal region is justly famous for its seafood and a visit is not complete without sampling an “espeto” (skewered grilled sardines) at one of the many “chiringuitos” (beachside bars). An after-dinner stroll is all the more enjoyable with a refreshing ice cream from one of the many ice cream parlours in every resort.

Getting Around

Frequent buses connect all the major coastal towns of Costa del Sol with the region´s capital Málaga. Local trains travel through Malaga, its airport and the main tourist resorts. By rail from Málaga you can visit the Andalucian towns of Seville and Córdoba or jump on the modern high-speed trains and be in Madrid in two and a half hours.

Kids Attractions

As well as the fun activities organised for kids in many of our resorts, Costa del Sol also offers plenty to keep children amused and entertained. Selwo Marina Delfinarium delights everyone all year round with its dolphins, sea lions and penguins. In the Benalmádena village you can visit the stunning Mariposario, one of the largest butterfly parks in Europe. Bioparc Zoo Fuengirola dispenses with cages and is home to over 200 species living in lush green gardens. And did we mention waterparks?

Spanish and English

The Benalmádena cable cars glide up to the mountains with spectacular views all along the Costa del Sol. The beautiful mountain town of Ronda is a “must visit” with its historic buildings straddling either side of a deep gorge. Daily bus trips can be arranged to Gibraltar to see the legendary rock or to Granada to visit it´s world famous Moorish castle. Cosmopolitan Marbella is a bus ride away if you´re in the mood for some serious retail therapy. The capital city of Málaga has been transformed in recent years and is great for shopping, museums or sipping coffee in pavement cafes and watching the world go by.
